Description
This painting by Roland Davies is of a Westland Lysander aircraft made famous during the second world war, as it was flown by 138 (Special Duties) Squadron, RAF for the collection and dispersal of SOE agents in occupied France.Roland Davies was a commercial artist before the war working for, Motor Cycle magazines, Autocar and newspapers, spent the war with the Ministry of Information, post war as an illustrator for various magazines and became a full time artist in 1972. He has exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Society of Marine Artists.
